Then I got sick last Monday and I have been fighting to keep a fever down. I have a hacking cough and feel miserable. Hopefully, I will be back to normal, health-wise, soon.

I have come to a decision regarding the Twilight Posts. It may not seem like it but it takes me over an hour just to do one little Twilight Digest. This is because of the research and stuff that goes into it. (And also, I am a really slow worker because I like to get things done right) Since I am going to college right now and I have other stuff going on I decided that I am just going to do a Twilight related blog post whenever I feel like it...

what a release!

Next time I hope I will feel better and I promise to try to make it more interesting!

-M

Twi Tuesday (1.27.09)

I am going to have to officially start setting a reminder for Twilight Tuesdays. I know, it's sad, but I have so much going on that I just...forget. I am ashamed.(lol)

Today, (Sorry, this one is going to be really long) I will talk a bit about the casting of Jane (again) and Alec as well as the excitement Kristen and Taylor have for shooting New Moon. Also I will post the first Twilight cast "Picture of the Week." Here is your Twilight Digest:

So, It seems that Dakota Fanning has confirmed that she is looking into playing the role of Jane in the upcoming New Moon. (Yay!) Dakota spoke to Access Hollywood in an interview about her interest in the part.

“I think it’s too soon to tell if I’ll for sure be doing it, but it’s so great,” she told Access Hollywood on Saturday at the junket for her latest film, “Push.” “I’m a really big fan of that series and the first film and all the actors in it, so it would be wonderful.”

E! Online’s Marc Malkin reported on Thursday that Dakota was currently negotiating for the role of Jane, a member of the deadly Volturi vampires from Italy, where much of “New Moon” takes place.

Following Malkin’s report, a rep for Summit Entertainment confirmed to Access there had been talks with the actress.

“We are considering all actors that have the unique requirements for the look of Jane — Dakota being one of them,” a rep for Summit told Access.

If she does get the part, Dakota said she won’t have to spend too much time in the makeup chair.

“I don’t think they’ll have to put a lot of makeup on me,” she joked. “I’m pretty white already.”

And the 14-year-old actress added that doing the film would give her a boost with her “Twilighter” pals.

“Pretty much all my friends are pretty big fans, so it would be great,” she said.

“Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner will all be reprising their roles in “New Moon,” which goes into production in March.

“Push,” also a Summit Entertainment film, is due February 6.

Source 1. Source 2.
Source 2 is where I get
a lot of my Twi-news from...

Peter Facinelli, who plays Carlisle Cullen (I am sure you remember :-) told PopEater how he is excited that Dakota Fanning might play Jane in New Moon.

“She is a phenomenal actress… [The role of Jane] would be great for her,” Facinelli exclusively told PopEater.
“I always think of her as this 12-year-old girl, but she is older now. What is she like 16 now?” he joked.

With Photos.

Source.

As for Alec, there aren't any rumors, per say (that I have heard) but many fans have already picked out who they favor to play the role of Jane's twin brother. Alec is described as almost identical to his sister but with slightly darker hair and lips that are less full.

(From the left: Gaspard Ulliel, Freddie Highmore, Lucas Grabeel, and Tom Felton)

Possessing the ability to numb a victim's senses, quiet but deadly Alec could be well-played by Tom Felton, best known as Harry Potter's foe Draco Malfoy. Some other suggestions? High School Musical's Lucas Grabeel could follow his serious turn in Milk with an even darker one as the bloodsucker. And French actor Gaspard Ulliel of Hannibal Rising would bring a terrifying pedigree to the character, while Freddie Highmore, who sweetly stole scenes in Willy Wonka and Finding Neverland, could bring out his bad side.

As two of the Volturi's highest-ranking guards, Alec and Jane are fearsome foes of immortal Edward and his human love Bella, to be played again in New Moon by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

Source.

Gaspard Ulliel was also favored originally by many fans to play Edward. (Not me) Stephanie Meyer continues to say, she doesn't know what fans see in him and that she doesn't see an Edward. Perhaps, he will be better fit to play Alec. (Personally though, I voted for Tom Felton.)

The excitement goes all around. Both Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewert are pumped for New Moon.

TAYLOR:
“Jacob’s character gets so cool. It is so more in-depth in the rest of the series. When he turns into a werewolf it is like he has two separate personalities. When he’s himself he’s this nice outgoing guy and when he goes werewolf on you he’s super intense and Bella’s just blown away like ‘what is with this freak now,’” Lautner said in the interview.

Source.

KRISTEN:

Kristen Stewart is “really excited” about ‘New Moon’.
The actress says she can’t wait to reprise her role as Bella Swan in the sequel to hit vampire love story ‘Twilight’ but is stunned by how big the movie franchise has become.

She told MTV: “It’s such a machine now. All of a sudden, this movie has become something bigger.

“With all the expectations - usually, you make a movie and think, ‘If it touches people, great; if it doesn’t, then you move on to the next one, and no one’s personally affected by it.’ But everyone’s really sensitive with any changes right now.”

Following speculation that Taylor Lautner had been axed from his role as Jacob Black, the 18-year-old star said she was delighted he would be appearing in the sequel.

She added: “I’m so glad they didn’t have to find somebody else; we already had him.

“I didn’t understand all the deliberation on whether to bring him back. Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner had also not read the book before auditioning for their respective parts. They were completely suprised when they realized how big the Twilight fan base actually was.

PICTURE OF THE WEEK (1.27.09):

Robert Pattinson, UHQ Photoshoot. Here are some of the names I was entertaining:

-Head over feet (from Alanis Morissette's song)
-Things I'll Never Say (what it is now)
-It's never going to be that simple (Realize-Colbie Caillat)
-Realize (")

...Okay, so that isn't a lot but I need help...

-M

Special Edition: Twilight Thursday! :-)

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Okay, I know. I did slack off Tuesday. I forgot all about Twilight Tuesdays (can you believe it?). Even though it was only my 2nd Tuesday to participate in the “tradition,” I feel kind of bad that I missed it. I do have a legitimate excuse though. I started back to school on Tuesday; college can boring but is definitely necessary. Sidetrack: So far I have 37 completed credits (by the end of this semester I will have 51 if all goes well); that makes me about a 2nd semester sophomore (exciting). I only wish I was farther along.

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Another thing happened on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. It was the Presidential Inauguration of Barack Obama. Which is definitely more important than Twilight. (I know, I don't like to admit that.) I would be writing about that instead, however, I am very politically inept. So, I will save the subject of Obama's presidency for another time, while I gather my knowledge of politics and government (I am taking an American Government course this semester. UHG! But it should be a great semester considering what is taking place in the history of the United States of America).

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Anyway, to make up for my attending school like a good college student I will write what I was planning to on Tuesday, today (Thursday). It can be Twilight Thursday for this week! So without further ado, I give you Special Edition: Twilight Thursday:

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Casting for characters like Jane, Felix, Caius, Marcus, Aro, Leah Clearwater etc. are still to be decided. At least, the public doesn’t know yet what actors Summit Films and Chris Weitz are thinking about for sure. There are some rumors about who will be casted to play Leah Clearwater in the up coming movie. Some reports say that Vanessa Hudgens (of the High School Musical line) tried out for the part but those seem to be false. We all want to know who will be playing the frustrated copper-skinned beauty that joins the La Push pack. However, Melissa Rosenberg, the screenplay writer, has given statements that Leah Clearwater is not even in the New Moon screenplay (as of yet) and may never be! Are they saving Leah for Eclipse?

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Another much talked about character is Jane of the Volturi. There have been rumors (I don’t know whether they are true 100%) that Dakota Fanning has been asked to play the petite, yet menacing, vampire.

According to E!

It's possible. I can exclusively report that the 14-year-old child star—she turns 15 on Feb. 23—is in talks to play Jane opposite Robert Pattinson & Co. in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to box office megahit Twilight.

“There were no auditions,” a source reveals. “They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”

Another proposal (Entertainment Weekly) for the part was Kristin Chenoweth of Pushing Daisies (Kristin supposedly has a high voice and is 4’11”)

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Who do you think would make a better Jane?

Dakota Fanning

OR

Kristin Chenoweth

Personally, my vote is with Dakota...

New Moon starts filming in March...YAY!

-M

No Internet?!

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Last night, after getting back from my other family’s house pretty late (close to midnight), I was about to settle down in my room with my computer to write a little on my computer, or check my email when I realized that I had left my charger plugged in at their house…and my laptop was completely dead. As I stood there trying to think of alternate modes of entertainment, I was shocked at how empty I felt with out being able to get on the Internet. I know, this is really pathetic and unacceptable but I soon realized that I am honestly addicted to the Internet. (The first step is admitting it. Right?)
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp I then decided to snuggle up with the book that I am currently reading. The problem was that it is Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. I have been trying to make myself more learned by reading classics (At least, I plan to. Wuthering Heights is my first attempt.) but I still have a hard time with the unfamiliar vocabulary. I usually read with my computer my by side, to look up words that I don’t know, and a pen in my hand, to write their meanings in the margin. Without my computer I was forced to use an actual spine-bound dictionary! Can you believe it?! At first, I was really put out by the extra amount of effort that it took me to look up each word: Having to look up 2-5 words per page (or 5 min…because the type is small) was really a hassle. After a while, though, I found that it wasn’t too bad. I got used to it pretty fast. I know now, though, since I have my charger back, I will go right back to using the convenient dictionary at my fingertips. But who knows, maybe I won’t. I’ll just have to wait and see.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Not using the Internet for a night reminded me of an event that I participated in last year called Earth Hour. Earth Hour is an annual worldwide event created by WWF (the World Wildlife Fund) to help raise awareness for the need to find a solution to global warming/climate change. People are urged, every year, to turn of their (non-essential) lights and appliances for one hour on the last Saturday of March. Earth Hour 2009 will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 8:30 PM.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp So I guess, I challenge people to try to go ¬¬so many hours without technology (as little as one or as many as five). You can interpret the term ‘technology’ however you would like: maybe you could just do without internet/TV, or maybe you would like to exclude all electronics (including lights). Any way you choose, I think it is an interesting lesson on what we can truly “live without”. Perhaps in the time that you spend without your technological comforts you could pick up a book and open up a whole new world.
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp If you don’t choose to participate in my challenge, I highly suggest that you try to participate in Earth Hour this coming March and to get as many people involved as you can.

To learn more about Earth Hour, you can visit:
EarthHour.org
Wikipedia.org

-M

The Other Boleyn Girl: Movie Review

Okay, so I just got done watching the movie The Other Boleyn Girl. It is an on screen adaptation of Philippa Gregory's novel, of the same name, directed by Justin Chadwick. It came to theaters in 2008. The movie told the story of two sisters, Anne and Mary Boleyn (Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson), who vie for the affection of King Henry VII (Eric Bana). I found it decently accurate to history. Even though I knew how the story ended before the movie even began I still found my self in the end hoping that Henry would spare Anne. All of the actors all did well. I really saw the pain in their eyes (especially the women). The cinematography was good as well and though I didn't really pay that much attention to the music, it wasn't bad. Over all it was an interesting film. (Since Natalie Portman is one of my favorite actresses, I might be a bit bias on this film though. :-) )

I suggest, though, if you decide to watch it, to turn the volume up and be able to devote the full 115 minutes (1.9 hrs) to watching it with minimum distractions. I watched the movie in my friends family room every time someone had to get up to get something by the time the got back something major had happened and we had to catch them up.

-M

Twilight Tuesday!

Today is Tuesday, that means news about the Twilight series!

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp So, as most people know New Moon is in the pre-production stage. Just recently they were ironing out who was going to be asked back to participate in the sequel to Twilight. Jacob Black, played by 16 year old (will be 17 Feb. 11) Taylor Lautner in Twilight, is supposed to grow eight inches in New Moon and mature to look like he is in his mid-twenties. This is the reason that Chris Weitz (Director of New Moon), put recasting Taylor on hold (perhaps to wait for Stephenie Meyer's approval). There were rumors going around that Weitz had plans to replace Taylor with the 26 year old, Michael Copon, who is known for his role as Felix on One Tree Hill (I wouldn't know because I have never seen it). But as far as I know, Taylor has now been confirmed to play Jacob Black in New Moon. Taylor has been working hard to keep his spot as Jacob. He started working out the day after Twilight finished shooting, he gained 20 lbs. to help him look muscular for the part and promised 10 more. So far, he only has 4 more pounds to go.

You can see a side-by-side picture of the two here.

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp I decided to write about the (Lautner/Copon) Jacob Black casting dilemma today because I came across a video of Taylor talking about the work he has put in to holding on to his role as Jacob. I am not one who like men muscly/buff but I have to say as I was watching this video, and eating some pretzels, I got to the part where Taylor lifts up his shirt to show his six-pack and the pretzel that was on it's way to my mouth totally missed its intended destination. Though my mouth was wide open, it wasn't because I was eating. I guess I was just blown away maybe. So, I will post the video here (just be warned). :-)

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="479" height="397" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v24.nonxt3.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Db479ae9b9b4f73d3%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331124005%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D6CE0059ADB02966E07FFCC0490A0C99F19414C25.568B434805AAB17A638E3AE73F667829311B8543%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Db479ae9b9b4f73d3%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DmrSvuPJ2ExemGDRxkO5uhd71S0E&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

I don't own this video. That does tend to happen.

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Since I haven't written an entry since March, I decided to write a brief overview of what I have done in the past year (2008- in semi-chronological order):

&nbsp I quit school (Dec 07) at a college in Georgia.
&nbsp I went to University of Phoenix for the spring while trying to figure out where I wanted to be.
&nbsp I lived with my sister for the first six months...
&nbsp I got into my first car accident.(and cried... a lot!)
&nbsp I moved back to Texas.
&nbsp I turned 20.
&nbsp I moved to Austin, got my own apartment, and enrolled in community college.
&nbsp I paid my first rent...on time.
&nbsp I got my first job as a waitress.
&nbsp I quit my first job as a waitress.
&nbsp I voted.
&nbsp I had my 2nd vegan Thanksgiving (I had it with my second family: they are my best friends family but I consider them my family.)
&nbsp I went to the Prop 8 protest in front of the Capital.
&nbsp I was served a non-vegan lasagna. I got a stomach ache and $15 gift certificate out of it.
&nbsp I got three A's and one B in school.
&nbsp I applied for the University of Texas.
&nbsp I went to my first (and last) Camp Camp.
&nbsp I read the Twilight Saga in two weeks.
&nbsp I had Christmas in Georgia with my sister, her family, my mom, and brother.
&nbsp I watched Twilight in theaters (four times..I know I'm lame).
&nbsp I received my rejection letter from UT.

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp So, that is my year in review. I know no one reads these but I feel it would be rude not to ask, how was your 2008?

Things that I am looking forward to in 2009:
&nbsp Barack Obama
&nbsp The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide [Book] (Feb. 1)
&nbsp KNOW1NG [Movie] (March 20)
&nbsp Maybe a road trip up to the Seattle/Portland/Olympic Peninsula areas (spring break)
&nbsp Twilight Special Edition DVD (Tentative date: March 21)
&nbsp 2012 [Movie] (June)
&nbsp Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince [Movie] (July 17)
&nbsp My 21st Birthday (Aug. 8)
&nbsp New Moon [Movie] (tentative date: Nov. 20)
&nbsp Lovely Bones [Movie] (Dec.)
&nbsp S. Darko [Movie]
... I am sure there is more but I can't think of any at the moment...

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp And last of all... my new years resolution(s). I normally don't do new years resolutions just because I feel if your going to do something than you should just do it. You shouldn't have to wait for a new year to start or only do something for a year. I just think it is an excuse (oh, I'll exercise for my "new years resolution"...next year). Like I said, I am going to be a hypocrite and make a new years resolution (fingers crossed that it will stick!). I am going to write an entry for this blog AT LEAST once a week.

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Now that I said that, I will probably never follow through...
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp See you in a week? :-)

-M

Okay since last post it seems though everything with drinking has slowed down. Which I am completely and unutterably thankful for!

As of today, I am good. I had the most odd dream last night. I dreamt that Hillary, (yes , Hillary Clinton) Hired me (yes, poor old me) to be the face of her campaign. She wanted me to be the "President" and she to be the brains but to everyone else we were one person!?!?!? (I think she wanted me because I could pass as her???) Anyway it was weird. As the dream was closing I started realizing later in my life people would only see me as her an I could not have my own life, I would not be my own person. People would only see me as Hillary Clinton, not as Meredith.

Strange.....

Any relevance to my life?...

We'll see.....

-m

A New Year Approaches, But Still the Same Problems

It is getting close to the new year. Today is the 28, only a few more days. Recently my sister and I, although we are not very close, have been talking. She brought up the topic of our mother, who has been known to abuse alcohol. I guess since I have been away at college for the past months, since August, and not living with her, I didn't really realize that she was still drinking. I knew she was, I guess, it just didn't occur to me, because I wasn't experiencing it, that it was still a problem. It seems stupid of me to think that now. How mindless and naive was I being. It's not like me being displaced from her drinking made her problem any better.

Well since I have been back over the holidays, we have dodged what could have been potential drinking disasters..which is good. But one can't get too comfortable with these calms...because they are, as the cliche goes, the calm before the storm. Oh, how like clock-work the drinking starts again.

I understand the problems at work she has been having have really hurt her personally and emotionally, but to me all I hear when she recounts these episodes are another excuse to drink another glass. Drink to the people who 'beat up' on her.

Don't get me wrong, my mother is one of the people I love most in this world, and I don't think that these people at her work (a particular department store) have any right to treat her they way they do. But her drinking because of the crap they give her, is stupid. It's beating herself up even more, if that makes any sense.

Now I am sitting here thinking about what crap she is putting herself through so selfishly. She is not only hurting herself but the family as well. All I can think of is where will it end. It is not as if we don't care for her, all we want for her is the best.

I have heard that it takes a life changing event to stop these speeding trains, so to speak, but isn't that what she has already had? A potentially (thank goodness it wasn't) lethal accident, a pending divorce, aren't these wake-up calls enough? Not to even mention the things you can't take a look at, the damage being done to her body. The last thing on earth I would ever want to happen would be to loose my mother before "her time".

My father, he is a different story. Yes, he has drinking issues of his own, but I think he his capable of pulling himself out of it (being that he wants to). But I don't see my mother getting real help for herself. Yes, she goes to therapy, but she doesn't want to change. She is perfectly happy drinking her self into "early retirement", and that scares me to death.

I don't want to know what it has to take for her to wake up if the things that have already happened didn't do the job. I have been to Ala-teen/Ala-non and know how to live "one day at a time", but what happens when your scared to?

Ricemellow Yellow

So yesterday my mom and I took a trip into Atlanta to go to Cosmo's Vegan Shoppe and for her to drive down memory lane. The street that Cosmo's was on was the street that my mom lived some 37 years ago when my sister was just a baby. In the 400 block of North Highland Avenue she showed me the apartment where they lived. I asked her if these were section 8 housing. She assured me they were not...but they sure looked like it. The dirty brick, peeling paint, beer bottles, and cigarette butts sure brought back memories for her. She hated that time, and I could tell, she was happy to be out of there and wished never to go back. She recounted to me as we left that she smoked marijuana in number 19 for the first, and the last time in her life. As we pulled out of the parking lot she felt relive that it was all behind her.

Mom took me down Moreland Avenue at the corner of what is now Freedom Park to where my Great-Grandmother's house once stood. And across from the park where my Great-Aunt's House was now a empty lot. They were neighbors then. Mom even drove me by Manual's Tavern were her and her late husband had had many a drink.

After all reminiscing was done we drove to Cosmo's and loaded up on the groceries. I was in vegan heaven! I bought cookies, cookie dough, Ricemellow Creme, spinach Florentine ravioli, Sicilian macaroni dinner, Vegan Vitamins, and Marshmallows......MARSHMALLOWS!!!!! Can you believe it!? Marshmallows that actually taste good...not only good but AWESOME. If you vegan, or even non-vegan these are awesome and you should definitely try them! They are Sweet & Sara, you can order them from www.sweetandsara.com or go to that website for a list of dealers in your area. I really recommend them.

After Cosmo's we went to IKEA and ate some lunch. I had to take some merchandise from Cosmo's into IKEA so they wouldn't melt in the car. At the cafeteria they didn't have very many choices in the way of vegan food...actually only two things the kids option, Uncrustables and fruit, and the salad bar. I had both.

Since my ravioli practically thawed in IKEA, I decided to have it for dinner. They were pretty good if you over look the fact that I forgot to put olive oil on them, for that matter any sauce, so they were a bit dry. The spice that was in them was different, but good.

I stayed up too late last night and when I got up this morning I was really hungry and so I had two blackberry turnovers. YUM! And then I went back to sleep.

When I finally got up again it was time almost time for lunch so I read a couple pages in the new Harry Potter book, The Deathly Hallows and decided to go have a make lunch. I wanted to make a ricemellow creme and peanut butter sandwich with the new creme I got from Cosmo's yesterday. When I opened the sealed creme I was a little taken aback at what I saw, a half full container and a yellowish fluff that looked a bit like snot, staring back at me. I thought maybe it had deflated because we had left it in the car when we went into IKEA the day before. With the urging from my mom I decided to take a taste...and it actually tasted alright, actually good. So I ended up actually having the sandwich despite how disgusting it looked, and it was satisfying.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_JOBlEGu_x6o/Rq5K9Z4hrcI/AAAAAAAAAAs/2isavhHMRFI/s320/Ricemellow+Creme.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093090647383059906" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JOBlEGu_x6o/Rq5K_J4hrdI/AAAAAAAAAA0/6j-YgOa7IDE/s320/Ricemellow+Inside.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5093090677447830994" />

Sheryl Crow Must Use Wipes!

Okay, now most of you have heard about Sheryl Crow's proposal that we limit ourselves to using one square of toilet paper per sitting. She goes on to say, "except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required".

Now I was talking the other day to a friend, who shall remain nameless for the sake of politeness and the perhaps embarrissing content. This friend of mine has trouble with bathroom visits due to a torn muscle she has. Anyway she was telling me how much nicer it was to use a product like baby wipes, instead of having to use up all the toilet paper. And you only usually have to use one!

Charmin and Cottonell both have an adult version to the baby wipes. These wipe unlike their counterparts are compleatly flushable.

And if you have to ask yes, I have after talking with this friend tried these wipes, and like she said yes, you only usually have to use one!

And that leaves me with Sheryl Crow must use wipes!
